Have recently been asked how Jock's progressing after his recent mauling by the two hunting dogs. Well, he's still a bit scabby underneath but seems to be back to his mischievous and cantankerous old self.

Have given him a couple of washes but he still has some matted hair caused by dried blood and bits of scabs. Tried brushing, combing and plucking but it won't shift. Would try cutting the lumps out with scissors but he won't hold still. He'll never win Cruft's.

He seems to be back to normal. Not sure if he's scarred mentally. If the experience of being mauled makes him a little less aggressive and a little more cautious towards other dogs, it'll be a darned good thing. But, being a Westie, he's probably learned nothing. New photo's pleasantly pastoral, eh, wot? Perhaps a little twee but it'll do for now.

I also love the photo (of the trees), hmm, more soothing than the previous one. Dog pictures are good, too. Presumably, being a dog, the smell of the hunting dogs has been filed for future reference rather than their size.

Merci Melrose. Trees photo 'header' is indeed a tad more attractive than previous offering. Hunter dog smell may well have been filed but will, I fear, instantly be forgotten on future sightings of said canines. Size of foe is completely immaterial with terriers.

Don't forget to look up at the night sky.
Tomorrow is the peak of the Orionids Meteor shower.
The Earth will be passing through a trail of Old Grey Vans, Morris Minors and rusty Push Chairs, debris left behind by Haleys Comet, for the next few days. Meteorite numbers peaked last night and this morning but the 21st October is the maximum.
Look in the general region of Orion in the South East sky.-

Had a look last night but didn't see any shooting stars or zooming classic cars. All I saw was a passing plane, heading south. Shall have a good old search in the south-east tonight, cloud permitting. Thanks for the tip.

Those I think are Grensons. Not brogues but close. Very comfy, and with Dainite soles very good for dogwalking. My faves though are my Crockett & Jones'. Proper shoes made by proper craftsmen. When I were a student lad, we lived in Northampton and I worked in the shoe factories in summer. Had a thing about well-made shoes ever since. Jock? Yup, back to normal, worse luck.
