1) Yes, Georgie bought an old exercise book and Helen lashed out on an old measuring caliper thingy. I was tempted to buy a big iron piggy-bank but then thought it silly to spend fifty euros on a money-saving device, plus I suddenly remembered I've never been any good at saving and didn't have fifty euros anyway.
2) Tatte.
3) Interesting info re. toodlepip. However, had you been competing in our recent Memory Olympics, this fine attempt at going for a gold medal would have unfortunately seen you red-carded for blatant smartarseism.

I am spending a good chunk of my time off getting to know some of the finer intricacies of suburban life. One phenomenon that I am trying to get my mind around is the “garage sale”. Seems like dozens of people host these things every weekend and hundreds of people go to them.
I feel almost silly saying this to adults, but if people own anything nice, they tend to keep those things. Conversely, if people own anything worthless and broken, they tend to sell it at garage sales. Just because you saw some lady on Antiques Roadshow get £16,000 for a vase she bought for a quid, doesn’t mean you’re gonna find a hidden gem. You’re basically buying other people’s garbage and storing it in your own house.
GARAGE SALE is just one letter away from being GARBAGE SALE… Act accordingly.
